Roadblock

Okay, okay! Two quarters have past, a new year has begun and I’m only updating this site now. What a bummer, eh? Well, I got quite a lot on my plate, you know, juggling work, social life (no matter how little I get) and some good family time.

So what do I want to write. Well, for the past few months, I’ve been trying to write. Not just scribble words that don’t make sense but write something which can be published. Back in December 2013, I attended this seminar conducted by a local publishing company about the steps on how to write a book. Got a few insights here and there, sparked some ideas but up to now, I have a blank pad! It’s getting frustrating.

Though it’s great that self-publishing is possible. But my problem is, what do I publish? I want to write a novel. But starting from nothing is not an easy step. Not that I’m complaining but it’s really so frustrating right now.

I hope by the next post, there’s some good news!

PS

Will try to update more regularly. 🙂

    1. Hey Carol! I tried talking to some of my friends a few months ago when this specific plot came to my mind. I was able to write about 3000 words at a coffee shop. But the thing is, I’m hard on myself and I always have this feeling that it’s no good. And my friends keep patronizing me. I don’t know. Guess it’s just me.

I’ll try to talk to the wall one time! 😉

I have a character in mind, a plot as well. But everything else is still loose. Can’t quite get a grasp on ’em.

Thanks for the time! Hope to read your novel! 😉

  1. As a five time published author I’d like to suggest prayer as your first step to beginning to write. Yes I’m a Christian and it’s amazing how the Lord will guide you. Creating a book that will be accepted by publishers is not an easy task. Lots of people desire to write a book, but not all are called to do so. I think it’s wonderful that you have this desire and hopefully you will be able to fulfill that desire. May I also suggest a brighter color for your blog. I like the simplicity of it just not black. 1. Hey Sue! Thanks for the enlightening comment.

A prayer… God will definitely guide me. He knows of the message I want to share, of the love I want to express. Thank you for stressing that out. Must admit I don’t talk to Him that much anymore. But He’s still lives in me.

Thank you for reminding me. 🙂

Page is a bit dull, eh? Would try and find a brighter, more welcoming color.

Will definitely check your blog on the weekend as I’m quite busy with work (just found a few mins to check on this). Will let you know.

      Cheers!

  2. I feel the same way you described in this post. I want to write a book, but I tend to over think everything, so it’s taking me forever just to start. Something that is helping me is to think of it as something only you will ever read while you’re writing it. That way, you aren’t self-conscious about what other people will think and you won’t censor yourself. Then, you can go back and edit. Good luck!

    1. Thanks for the comment, Maggie (co-Bastille fan!) 🙂

I believe we are our own worst enemy. So writing is an incessant battle within (on top of the external struggles as an artist trying to live a decent life) 😉

      Cheers!

      1. Haha. Co-Bastille fan, Luis. I know I am my own worst enemy, so I completely agree. Well put. Describing writing as an “incessant battle” (if you’re doing it as a creative outlet) is the perfect way to say it…
